The European Commission Representation in Malta and the European Parliament Office in Valletta organised for the second year running, a fair bringing together, under one roof all the EU information providers.

The 2^nd Edition of the Europe Close to You fair was an even bigger success than the first with hundreds of people, from all walks of life, visiting the fair and seeing for themselves the variety of information that can be found, in Malta, on the EU. Information is at hand, and the fair proved it. Over 17 different EU information providers, among which Forum Malta fl-Ewropa, from EU institutions down to NGOs that help in the dissemination of information on particular EU sponsored programmes, took part in the fair.

During the fair a number of organised discussions were held including a well attended debate on the closing day, between the Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi and the leader of the Opposition, Alfred Sant. The topic of discussion was EU funding.
