Dr Gabriella Pace was invited to address a Conference entitled: Current Issues Relating to Employment. Dr Pace's presentation focused on the revision of the EU's Working Time Directive. This event was organised by the Malta Business Bureau (MBB) with the support of TAIEX, the Technical Assistance Information Exchange Instrument, within DG Enlargement. Its purpose was to provide participants with practical guidance on current issues in EU and Maltese legislation relating to the working environment. The Speakers invited to address the Conference analysed current developments in Maltese and EU fields of labour law and employment policies.
The Conference, which was addressed by various foreign and local experts, was co-chaired by Omar Cutajar from the MBB Malta office and Sabine Fashing from TAIEX. Issues tackled include the working time directive and its revision, the information and consultation of employees, age discrimination, equal opportunities and the gender pay gap, as well as the protection of employee data. The Conference was attended by company staff with responsibility for Human Resources, Legal practitioners, in-house counsels, representatives of trade unions and employer bodies and officials of national authorities involved in employment law matters, amongst others.
