On the 9 May 1950, Robert Schuman presented his proposal for Europe's integration which led to the development of the EU as we know it today. It is for this reason that the Annual Europe Day Lecture series has been launched under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and organised through Forum Malta fl-Ewropa. This year it was co-ordinated with the European Commission Representation Office. The theme identified for this year was “Can the EU Survive Another 50 Years?” and the paper was presented to a packed hall by the Hon. Michael Frendo, Minister of Foreign Affairs. A very interesting discussion with participation from the floor then ensued.
