Radio Web Europe

Radiowebeurope.jpgThe UHM is participating in Radio Web Europe, a European project seeking to encourage the public to participate in debates on subjects of European interest. This project is being funded by the European Commission’s Plan D for Democracy, Dialogue and Debate. For this project, the UHM has teamed up with CENASCA - an association established by the second biggest Italian confederation of trade unions CISL – and with other associations in Spain, Portugal, Austria and Lithuania.

The project focuses on new modes of communication and will be resorting to the use new multi-medial tools such as podcasts which address young people. The latter will also be given the opportunity to express themselves in their own way about the subjects indicated. These are European economic and social development, their perception of Europe and the functioning of the Union, and Europe’s frontiers and its role in the world. The activities will involve a minimum of 50 young people from each of the countries participating in the project.

Radio Web Europe was launched in December 2006 during a meeting in Florence and is expected to conclude at the end of 2007. The project will cost €800,000 and the Commission will contribute €550,000. The UHM will benefit from nearly €100,000.
