Who is it for?
The Culture Programme (2007-2013) is a European Community measure in the field of culture. It is open to all non-audiovisual cultural sectors and all categories of cultural operators, including cultural enterprises where they act in a non-profit making capacity.
Applicants must be public or private bodies having a legal status & whose principal activity is in the culture field.
What are the objectives?
The general objective of the Programme is to enhance the cultural area shared by Europeans based on a common
cultural heritage, through the development of cultural cooperation between the cultural players of the countries taking part in the Programme, with a view to encouraging the emergence of European citizenship.
The specific objectives of the Programme are:

to promote the transnational mobility of cultural players;

to encourage the transnational circulation of works and cultural and artistic products;

to encourage intercultural dialogue.
What are the fields of action?
The Programme covers the following three strands:

Interdisciplinary approach:
Projects can focus on one cultural sector (e.g. music, photography, performing arts, etc.) or be multi-sectoral, i.e. encompass several sectors.
Strand 1.2.2 - Literary translations:
A separate call is issued once a year to grant financial support to literary translation projects presented by publishers from countries participating in the Programme. Eligible are works from and into European languages and by European authors. Examples include novels and stories, theatre, poetry, anthology, etc).
Applications must include a minimum of four and a maximum of ten works eligible to be translated.

EU candidate countries (provided their relevant ‘Memorandum of Understanding’ regulating their participation enters into force).
