The Parliamentary Secretariat for Small Businesses and the Self-Employed teamed up with MCAST for the creation of a Leonardo da Vinci Mobility project aimed in promoting and nurturing an entrepreneurial spirit amongst students.
A total of 43 MCAST students, on an apprenticeship here in Malta, were given the opportunity to undergo a three-week placement with successful entrepreneurs in different countries. This placement did not only provide a hands-on opportunity that supplemented the technical and theoretical skills that the students had, but it was also an experience for the students to see their work being implemented in another culture.
Leon Parnis, a final year Computer Engineering student at MCAST, was one of the 43 participants. He has stated that he found the placement highly beneficial since he was exposed to new experiences and worked on new IT systems and applications that he had never used before. Moreover, this experience not only enhanced his working skills, but also his communication and social skills, especially with regard to his use of the English Language.
This project benefitted from a total grant of €78,540.00 under the Leonardo da Vinci Programme.
