Across Limits, a local SME is currently participating in a project funded by the Lingua Measure under the former Socrates Programme. The aim of this project is to promote communication and understating between EU nationals through language learning. It also aimed to facilitate the promotion of national languages, promotion of less widely used European Languages and also to make more language resources available from local authorities.
A total of eight partners from seven different countries that includes Italy, UK, Malta, Germany, Poland, Romania, and Lithuania participated in this project, all aiming to reach the general public via different campaigns. Many local bus commuters may have come in contact with a number of advertising posters inside buses providing a literal translation of common Maltese phrases into the English and Italian languages. This was part of the campaign that the Maltese organisation embarked in that included; various adverts in bus shelters, advertising inside and back of buses, radio advertising and also feedback flyers. This project will come to an end next year.
Learning by Moving does not intend to equip the general public with sufficient skills to learn a new language but to serve as the initial stage of international communication and to promote language learning.
This project is also running an online competition related to language whereby users may win materials related to language learning. For this competition and for further information, interested persons may access www.learningbymoving.eu.
