European societies are confronted with social tensions and these are leading to fragile social relations. The European Commission supports a number of activities to reinforce European Integration and inter-cultural understanding. One of the programmes that the European Commission launched for this purpose is Europe for Citizens 2007-2013.
Town Twinning is a reality in today’s Europe, as an important number of municipalities are linked to each other through a formal town twinning agreement. Such partnership aims at encouraging cooperation between the towns and mutual understanding between their citizens.
During the event organised by the Department of Local Councils held on Friday 25th July Mr Osvalido Zammit, Funding Coordinator at MEUSAC delivered a presentation on Europe for Citizen (2007-2013). The focus of this presentation was Action 1 of this programme: Town Twinning. His presentation focused on the eligible actions that can be funded such as Citizen’s meetings and Thematic Networks of twinned towns. Details on the applications, deadlines and hints to make a better project were all included in his presentation.
