Making Sense of Europe

MakingSenselogo.jpgMaking Sense of Europe was a trans-national project between the GWU (Malta), the GFTU (UK) and CGIL (Italy). The lead partner of this project was the GWU.  This project managed to create a new trans-national European network of active trade union representatives and officials. Making Sense of Europe was also awarded as one of the best projects submitted by unions all over Europe.

The project duration was of one year and was based around three initial two-day seminars/workshops held in each partner country followed by a two-day international seminar, held in Malta, for the participants that attended the initial workshops. Communication and networking between participants was encouraged via a project website that included all the details of the individual country deliberations. Workshops and seminars also covered debates around the Constitutional Treaty that are of importance for trade unionists. This project managed to enhance the understanding of the Constitutional Treaty and improve the active European dialogue and citizenship through mutual understanding.

This project was financed by the Active European Citizenship Programme. This project costs amounted to 92,000 Euros of which 80% was funded by the European Commission, while the remaining 20% was funded by the members of the consortium.
