One of the beneficiaries of the MTA Grant Scheme 2004-2006 is Palazzo Margherita, a tourism operator based in Gozo. The main aim of this scheme was the enhancement of the overall quality of the tourism product and complementing the overall strategy of making Gozo a distinctive and independent tourism destination to Malta.
This Scheme was financed through Structural Funds. Various measures were implemented by this family-run business. An air-conditioning system was installed on site and the system proved useful as it replaced the previously existent units which had been installed for over fourteen years and took an extensive amount of space. The new system increased energy savings and efficiency, was more environmentally-friendly and made a better use of space. Upgrades to the kitchen equipment included the installation of better mechanical and electrical installations, amongst which were improved hot water and ventilation systems, LPG (Liquid Petroleum Gas) installation and a more environmentally responsible sewage system.
Two cold-rooms that were installed complemented the enhanced food quality service. This project brought an overall improvement to the service being offered in this establishment, which in turn enhances overall customer satisfaction. The applicant was eligible for a grant amounting to 40% of the eligible expenses.
