The 2009 edition of the European Jobs Day organised by the EURES Office in Malta, was held between Friday 27th March and Saturday 28th March at the Hotel Phoenicia in Floriana. Among the presentations and talks delivered during this annual fair was a well-attended presentation by Dr Gabriella Pace, MEUSAC’s Head of Information, on the opportunities Maltese citizens have to work either in the EU institutions or in the EU agencies around Europe.
After explaining MEUSAC’s mission to the audience present, Dr Pace mentioned how EU citizens can access the official website of the European Personnel Selection Office to find out information on the range of job opportunities and types of employment in the EU Institutions. She also went into some detail on how to create a personal EPSO account to be able to apply for a competition or a selection procedure, or to monitor one’s existing application, to mention a few.
She explained the requirements for eligibility to work in the EU Civil Service, which primarily involves everything that has to do with the European Commission working closely with the European Parliament and national governments to run the union in the overall interests of the European citizens. Dr Pace then touched on the EU Concours, which is a recruitment competition and examination to select staff to all institutions of the European Union. The floor was then open for any queries.
