FTZ’s network to facilitate the implementation of European projects of benefit to the whole community, joined forces with Training Research and Educational Assistance Foundation (AFIES), located in Spain, to participate in the QUIN Project under the ‘Europe for Citizens’ Programme.
This project, which aims to allow citizens to participate actively in the development of the EU and contribute to policy improvements in line with the Lisbon objectives, brought together a cross regional partnerships from the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Malta and Cyprus. This project motivates citizens, entities, organizations and policy-makers to narrow the distance between citizens and Europe and to underline the need for more European intercultural dialogue.
The regional meetings and activities organized as part of this project served as a tool for exchanging good practices, getting recommendations for policy-makers, and offering useful information on EU to citizens. One of the activities run by FTZ for the QUIN participants – who were mainly officials coming from civil society support centres, youth organizations and organisations which support community groups and individuals, was to pay a visit to the MEUSAC’s building in Valletta on 11th March 2009.
During the short visit, Dr Pace, Head of Information at MEUSAC warmly welcomed the participants and delivered an informative presentation on MUESAC - its mission, its structure and what it does to achieve its objectives. Questions from the floor were also accepted after the presentation.
