An information session on the Life+ Funding Programme was organised by the Life+ National Contact Point and MEUSAC, specifically for the benefit of Local Councils and environment-related NGOs. The Life+ Funding Programme takes over from its predecessor Life III and supports the development and implementation of Community policy and legislation, with a view to promoting sustainable development.

The keynote speaker at this event were Juan Manuel Revuelta, the Director of the Valencia Regional Representation Office. The Valencia Region is the frontrunner with regard to funds allocated under LIFE Environment and LIFE Nature.  A total of € 21,110,812 have been allocated to the Valencia Region to invest in innovation and environment. The Valencian Region has in fact been leading for three consecutive years on this front.

This event was held on 27^th July 2009 at Dar l-Ewropa in Valletta.

The event also included the participation of Maria Elena Attard (Life+ NCP), Maria Schembri (Head – Funding Unit) and Vince Attard (President – Nature Trust). The Hon. Dr Chris Said, Parliamentary Secretary for Public Dialogue and Information, opened the seminar.
