Several months have now passed since MEUSAC’s Sectoral Committees have been established and there were quite a few opportunities of collaboration on various EU-related dossiers. The matters tackled have covered a good number of aspects and more is yet to come. As EU developments possibly start to wind down in the coming weeks MEUSAC took the opportunity to have a meeting for all members participating in the various Committees. This enabled to facilitate dialogue across the various interests, allow for networking – which is much called for, and providing information on a number of opportunities available.

The meeting was held on 4th August 2009 at the Exchange Buildings in Valletta. The programme included space for discussion on the experience so far, the presentation of a handbook to assist the consultation process and an overview of how MEUSAC can help with regard to funding opportunities. Of particular interest was the launching of the Civil Society Fund and the Co-financing Fund for Civil Society. The Hon. Dr. Chris Said, Parliamentary Secretary for Public Dialogue and Information, delivered the closing address.
