Business Breakfast: Workers on the move

The Malta-EU Steering and Action Committee organised a Business Breakfast to mark the sixth anniversary of Malta’s accession to the European Union. The event, which also coincided with Workers’ Day, focused on the rights and protection of workers in the European Union and how Maltese workers are faring in the European market as a result of Malta’s accession.

Three keynote speakers, Mr William Martin, Acting Head of the European Commission Representation in Malta, Mr Joseph Farrugia, Director General of the Malta Employers’ Association (MEA) and Ms Anna Borg from the Centre for Labour Studies of the University of Malta and a member of MEUSAC’s Core Group, presented the European and the local dimension on employment. The three presentations were followed with a Q&A session by participants at the breakfast event, and by presentations by beneficiaries of EU funded projects related to employment.

The Business Breakfast was chaired by MEUSAC Head, Dr Vanni Xuereb and the closing address was delivered by the Hon. Dr Chris Said, Parliamentary Secretary for Consumers, Fair Competition, Local Councils and Public Dialogue.
